Payday loan documentation checklist

A clear inventory helps you understand each obligation before making representations.

01. Identify every account

Record the app or service name, legal lending entity where known, disbursal date, amount received, due dates and reference number. Do not assume the app brand and lender are the same entity.

02. Preserve original records

Save sanction letters, key fact statements, agreements, repayment schedules, transaction confirmations and payment receipts. Retain the original files and their dates.

03. Reconcile amounts carefully

Compare the amount disbursed, total amount requested, charges shown, payments made and the current claimed balance. Mark anything not yet supported by a statement as unverified.

04. Maintain one correspondence register

Log the date, channel, sender, subject, response and acknowledgement for each lender. Keep allegations separate from verified facts.

05. Protect your credentials

Never share OTPs, passwords, UPI PINs or full card details with a consultant, caller or through an initial enquiry form.

06. Know when to seek specialist advice

Disputed contracts, coercive conduct, threatened litigation and interpretation of legal obligations require an enrolled advocate or other qualified authority.
